This page details all fees a creator may be subject to while using theHat. This includes our platform fee, payment processing fees, and payout fees through third party partners. At Hattitude, it is our mission to get creators as much money as possible through the use of our platform. Instead of relying on a tiny percentage ad revenue share, it’s now possible for creators of all types to use our service to receive money directly from fans. And we are constantly trying to minimize the fees involved.
Creators retain 95% of fan contributions. We take a 5% platform fee of successfully processed contributions. This means we only make money if you are making money. This 5% will enable Hattitude to fund further development and covers chargebacks and fraud protection.
Stripe (our payment provider) charges 2.9% plus $0.30 of received contributions. This is the cost involved in moving money from your fans to your creator balance. Payment processing fees cover the cost of processing payments from your fans, including recovering declined payments, and fighting fraud. You, the creator, are NOT charged the Payment Processing Fees. These fees are surcharged to the fan making the contribution at the time of the transaction. Contributions coming from non-US international cards are charged an additional 1% processing fee. An additional 1% is charged if currency conversion is required.
This is the cost of transferring funds from your creator balance to your bank. The minimum threshold to transfer funds is $10. Once you meet the $10 threshold you’ll be prompted to link with Stripe and setup your transfer method. You only need to do this once. Your transfer method of choice will be saved for all future payouts and can be updated at any time. The cost for transferring funds is 0.25% plus $0.25 per payout. Using $10 as an example, you would receive $9.01 after all fees are deducted.
